Self-Sabotage

When you become a person of your word, you develop trust with yourself and those around you. That means developing a sophisticated understanding and preemptive strategy for what you stand for, what values and intentions you are ready to attend to daily, honour and commit to.
A good start is by preempting that seasons of self-sabotage will appear and will return. By accepting that, you might begin to better recognise the patterns of sabotage earlier on. And countering them with rest days, play, or rolling-up your sleeve days and biting the bullet.
The commitments we choose may be work, a relationship, friendship, a dream, an identity, a vision, fitness goal, a community or a hobby. When we create space to return to the activities, people and roles we choose, we are planting seeds of trust, seeds of honesty and authenticity.
Self sabotage can appear in many forms and guises - it mainly appears in order to protect us from harm and instigate our survival. At times we are clinging onto parts of ourselves that no longer serve us and are delaying episodes of transformation and growth.
We often do this for fear or ease. However, the other side of committing to our dreams, values and intentions is confidence, self-belief and reliability. It is ok to change your mind, to say no when you've already given a yes, or completely shifting direction. Still, that needs to be concurrent and tied to something reasonable and fair - like expressing compassion for our physical limits on a given day or recognising the relationship we are in, is no longer aligning.
If we make a habit of sticking to our commitments, showing up for our relationships we have chosen and delivering work promised, we learn to not "over-promise", we learn to be a little more balanced in what we commit to and we develop greater comfort, trust and ease in our every day lives.
Understand your triggers and fears and discuss them - be it body image, jealousy, insecurity or anxiety. You may just feel lighter and remove that which is standing in your way. Most importantly get into the practice and discipline of following through on your word - provided you are committed to that which you choose, enjoy, resonate with and grow from.
Self-sabotage comes to us all. Preempt it, accept it and strategise tools to counter it. That is truly have we manifest our dreams, intentions, and push ourselves to the other side.
