The raging speed of the world - namely softened by a steady steering of time - is compounded by the instantaneous and the constant access that technology allows. It has become a losing battle to remain present, to remain in wonder and in exploration within our daily lives. There is repetition, there is the predictable, there is constant pressure and there is a pace we can never meet.
By taking moments to tend to our joys, pleasures and deepest needs, we may tend to our aspirations for a life rich in connection and balance. Carving out space for a hike in nature, a run in the park, a coffee with someone we admire, learning a new language or reading a challenging passage of poetry - we might heighten time that feels less restrictive and that move at a manageable pace.
A healthy life needs routine and novelty. It also needs a firm grasp of what is sustainable - and that which is filled with presence, gratitude and healthy perspective. Nothing is perfect but by protecting your pace and daily habits - you might protect your peace. A healthy lifestyle requires effort, structure and play, novelty and adventure.
Finding a community that nurtures and protects your pace is vital. Your environment sustains, supports and co-designs your world. Moving at a pace that is yours alongside others is never easy - but when your core values are shared by your tribe, you can more steadily cultivate a meaningful, manageable and fulfilling life - that is protected; that is present, reasonably paced and tailored to you.
