Shifting Scarcity into Abundance

The sudden death of contentment is often rooted in excessive and unhealthy comparison - a scarcity mindset. During these moments we fixate on what we feel to be missing in our lives - such as wealth, partnership, emotional support or certainty - instead of noticing that which is there - such as friendship, compassion, humour, warmth, generosity or beauty.
No meaningful life can be built out of scarcity, but out of creativity, out of gratitude and out of a strong sense of what we have today - our daily abundance. We will have everything in life - good health, stability, uncertainty, companionship, romantic love, inspiration, peace, adventure and play - but not all at once and in chapters, cycles, stages, days, moments and episodes.
There will always be aspects, people and qualities missing from our day, but equally, there will always factors we are rich in - such as youth, wisdom, courage, empathy and discipline.
Welcome what is there rather than what is lacking. Embrace the pace, the gifts and lessons in your hand, in this very moment. Celebrate the simple, the active, the passionate, the adventurous, the naive and sustain a lifetime of fulfilment, joy, integrity, humility and humour, over that of scarcity.
Notice the abundance and circumstances you are rich in, rather than pining or longing for what is not there. It is likely to find you at a later point if it hasn't already done so. And should you never come to meet with these aspirations and wishes, take comfort in the wonders of today - however small, however big - they are great and they are mighty, just as they are.
