For all that exists in the world, it is the simple things that give us most joy, most freedom and most conviction. To use our hands, bodies and souls each day ties us to the land and creates deep belonging. To nurture our relationships with one another builds a balance and a sense of equilibrium and harmony.
When we imprint the world with ego or self we are creating a tension, a rupture and a dispossession between one another. Taking care of others is cyclical - it means we are taking care of future generations. In this way - we cultivate love, compassion and empathy. This is regenerative, compostable and restorative. By taking care of the soil, of each other, of our bodies, health and passions we can impart and inspire beauty, innovation and creativity in times of difficulty.
There is an innate dignity in slowing down and living a life of frugality. When we are frugal we take only that which we need, We draw a sense of that which is enough. We draw of sense of fullness of limits, cultivate depth, deep time and presence over a life filled with speed and adventure.
Our lives wrap with the wheel of nature, as we understand gratitude, belonging and use what we have over what we do not. This is an everyday practice that carves and contours a peaceful existence. Taking what you need is considerate and proportionate to everyone else. Excess is often the problem as it complicates and overwhelms. When we overfill, overstock, we are withdrawing from the opportunity to share our need, to connect with community, friends and family.
Next time you feel overwhelmed and inundated with things you're juggling in life. Try to drop some of the balls you are carrying. Reduce your load and simplify your energies to one thing at a time. Better still - try dropping everything altogether. Get to a place of stillness and ground yourself entirely.
