The composition of an unmade day

Each day, however free or repetitive, carries opportunities and thresholds within it. This day ahead of us is yet to be written, yet to be marked and yet to take shape, colour or vitality. There are degrees of playfulness, shades of discipline that this day will invite. So much of what is yet to be: is a composition, an improvisation of different notes - produced both collaboratively and individually.

Together, we construct a score that becomes a day - choosing left or choosing right, centralising on pleasure and rest; or capitalising on focused effort and determination - a day can be whatever we create from it. Living a day, therefore, is a creative act. At times, a day can be filled with spontaneity, adventure and chance; at other times it can be filled with balance, with tasks achieved, regular breaks and simple moments of care and friendship.

Each day is yet to be made, and it is important to value, protect and honour an unmade day. After-all, it is a blank page that asks us to express ourselves truthfully and honestly. How we meet the demands or opportunities that a new day brings is a good reflection of where we stand. By viewing the day ahead as a composition or a score of music - we might observe how our choices have led us to map and contour the time we have lived had so far and how each day reflects our natures - our dreams and actions taken.

Each of us has qualities that are unique to us and yet a day is entangled with the hopes and wishes or others; alongside that of our own. Some things lie in our hands, some don't. Collectively we construct our internal imaginations and external worlds together, as the days ahead are always opportunities to notice, pause or take small steps towards our next chapter.

The day ahead ahead of us is always a gift (no matter how bleak the circumstances) and it is always charged with potential and choice. How we respond to an unmade day and how we co-design our time is how we might live our future. So value each unwritten day - it is always an invitation to express softness, discipline, love, empathy, patience, gentleness and laughter.

It is never just a day. It is a work of art. To live, is ultimately an expression of creativity, music and collaboration. So mark your days with courage and choice and remember that how you act and how you shape a day (despite the limitations) is your freedom.
